For shaping one’s personality, the most important thing that has to be considered is self-awareness and self-identity. Self-awareness is termed as understanding of one’s own true self and about one’s existence. Moreover, what is important for a person to know is that he is unique with different vices and virtues unlike others. Every person has an individual identity with personal thoughts and feelings.
There is a component within ourselves that do not actively participate in day-to-day activities. This is called our inner self, which is quiet and observes all our actions. In the hustle and bustle of fast moving life, we have no time for our own self and relations. We look for opportunities that would free us from problems so that we can live happily without anxiety. But this cannot be achieved till we realize our inner self.
The external factors always draw us towards negative thoughts and actions. Similarly to enhance one’s personality, people get lured by attractive yet monstrous factors and forget their values. It is not that people are born with negative thoughts and feelings; it is the situations and atmosphere that makes people manipulative and scheming. If you start behaving in the negative sense, there will be no hope for improvement of the self.
However, one should not give up but always make an attempt to believe in oneself and one’s abilities. One should try to focus one’s thoughts in realizing being and not to loose grip on self-awareness.
Your inner self will not come in limelight on its own. You have to find it yourself through yoga and meditation. Mediation is the only therapy that makes your mind and soul tension-free and peaceful. Moreover it makes our mind sharp and we can easily analyze situations. Tranquility of mind and soul is achieved. The major advantage of meditating is that it makes us calm and composed and we easily find solution to all problems of life. By listening to your inner voice and mind, you can even rise to a level where you can experience the achievement of divine self. To listen to your inner voice the basic necessity is that you have a free will to transform yourself to a practical human by self-development.
There are also various other therapies that help in knowing one’s inner self like laughter therapy, breathing therapy and color therapy. By opting for laughter therapy as a means to know your true self, it helps in forgetting our anxieties so that we have peace of mind that can be diverted towards self-awareness and self-identity.
By taking the step to know one’s inner self, you gradually come to know about your hidden talents. Moreover, when you start believing in your abilities, your creativity and outlook comes out that contributes in the development of the self in a true sense.
The inner self not only enhances our knowledge about ourselves, it also makes our rational faculty come out with flying colors. This can help in dealing with situations that need self-awareness and proving of oneself.
In addition, when one starts giving priority to oneself, one realizes that the outlook and perception has undergone a tremendous change. The concept of self has an appealing feature to draw people’s attention towards itself. It is that of awareness and control.
There is the possibility that the more one comes to know about oneself, the lesser will be the need to promote personality as self development is the best possible way to enhance and shape one’s personality. As self-awareness is the most important ingredient in self-development, it has to be kept in mind that one should not try to judge or act on it. Rather one should use it for the betterment of the self and personality.
